VPSS Location
Victoria Point State School is situated in the Redland's District, 38 km south-east of Brisbane on the beautiful shores of Moreton Bay. Our school is surrounded by some of the most important koala areas in South East Queensland. Our students come from a large area including Victoria Point, Coochiemudlo Island, Redland Bay and Thornlands. The student population is predominantly Anglo-Australian. Less than 1% identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Fifty-one children have a cultural background other than Anglo-Australian.
The school commenced operating at its present site in June 1916, but the oldest classroom block is Block 2, which was built in 1923. The school went through a significant growth period from 1990 till 1994 when the enrolment grew from 400 to 868. Enrolments have continued to increase to over 900 in 2000 (numbers include preschool). With the high level of housing development in the local area we expect that our enrolments will continue to grow steadily.
Our Parents and Citizens' Association provide outstanding support to our school with specific financial support for our technology program, our literacy program, grounds beautification and landscaping, and our library resources. Our P&C meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the school and all interested members of the community are welcome to attend.
