VPSS Parents and Citizens
To be successful, schools require the active support of parents and the local community. We are very fortunate to have a very supportive and active Parents and Citizens Association. The P &C have provided funds to support educational programs and improve facilities within the school environment. In 2005 we assisted the school with building the Multi Purpose Courts, which include netball, basketball and tennis courts for use by the school and the general community. Our P&C run a number of fundraising events throughout the year and rely on a small group of dedicated parents and helpers to oversee these activities.
P&C Meetings are held every second Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm in the school grounds. All interested members of the school and local community are welcome and encouraged to come along.
Volunteer Support
Our school could not function without its Volunteers.
This group of people can be found in almost all areas of the school environment. Volunteers are utilised in the classrooms, library, sporting events, music events, snack shack assistance, uniform shop and student banking, to name just a few. Volunteers are always “Welcome”. Support a Reader courses are run every year in term 2 to assist not only your own child to read, but also other children within the school. These helpers enhance the Positive Partnership between the school, parent/carers and the community.
School Uniform
Over the past two years we have been in the process of changing our uniform from brown and yellow to blue. At present we have a mid blue polo shirt/ blue check formal shirt with navy shorts/ culottes. This uniform change has been well received by parents and commented favourably by the community. See uniform link for prices.
Snack Shack News
Our tuckshop/snack shack not only provides nutritious food ( under the Healthy Food and Drink Strategy) for the students but also helps raise money for the school. This shack is always in need of volunteers to prepare lunches and serve students during lunchtime. See Snack Shack link for prices and opening hours.
Boaties Market
This is a biannual event run each May and October by the Victoria Point Volunteer Air Sea Rescue in the school grounds. The P & C in conjunction with this event, hold a sausage sizzle and drinks stall for the early riser and raise funds for the school. The Air Sea Rescue also assist contributing a donation to the school from the gate takings. Local advertising highlights the dates of Boaties Market Days.
Craft Mornings
Every Tuesday from 9am to 11am we hold a craft group, on the school premises. This group makes cards and unique gifts to be sold at our Craft Stalls for special days of the year- ie. Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Christmas. If you are interested in meeting a friendly group of mums and grandmothers and in learning some new craft ideas, why not come along and join in.
Local Support
Every Anzac Day and Remembrance Day the “Rats of Tobruk Association” have representatives come along and speak with the students at our Special Parade. The students truly enjoy this time of reflection from some of our oldest diggers. This Association has had a long standing within the school and offers Bursaries to a few of our students each year.
Local Businesses such as Services Clubs, Sharks Sporting Club and the Victoria Point Indoor Sporting Complex also offer support to our school.
So don't be shy come along and meet our friendly staff and students and be apart of our school community.
